 Three things!

1.  I saw Kris Allen in concert tonight!  It was fun :)  The friend I took with me also had a great time, and at no point called me on the fact that I know way WAY too much about him.  Although to be fair, she is only a casual fan of his and even she knew about the car accident and that his wife is pregnant, so. He played at my favorite venue, which only holds about 100 people, so it was super intimate and the sound was perfect as always.  They have table and bar seating, and then there's this odd little area that is bleacher seating, which is where we were at, and at one point he looked over and said something along the lines of "Well, we've got a jury tonight!  Hope they find in our favor.  They're all drinking, so it's looking good."  It was cute.  He is a tiny, tiny human.

2.  I start my quilting class next week, so I went to the store today to get the supply list and, because I know myself, pick out the fabrics for the quilt we will make in class.  I have pattern issues - I have a hard time matching fabrics together because I find them too busy.  The poor women at this store!  They all tried to help me, but it took me over an hour to pick out four fabrics.  I think it will be cute when it's done though! I will document the whole process and show it to you as we go over the next two months.

3.  Has anyone downloaded the MCR singles from their non-released album?  Are they worth paying for?

So when last I left you, I was annoyed about the coming of December.  It actually turned out pretty well!

a) I have a new nephew!!!! His name is Vaughn, and he is super cute.  I will get to meet him next Wednesday.

b) I didn't have to go to St. Louis.

c) I only have one more workday left in the year, so nothing really looks that bad to me right now.

I did have to work with a site in Mexico, which was annoying because my counterpart had a tendency to wander off, but I got it done and I didn't have to go anywhere.

I've spent most of my free time working on scraping all the flaking paint/rust off my back patio railings, and trying to get a quote for installing a new railing back there because my insurance company now insists I need one.  I think I've gotten it to be under $500, so I'm happy about that.  Well, I'd be happier if I didn't have to do it, but oh well.

Also, there was a small fence kerfuffle, in that I took my old ghetto fence down, and then the house next to mine that had been vacant for two years sold and they wondered where the fence was.  But it ended well, and the new owner seems nice and he is looking for good renters so hopefully it won't be too bad.  Although I think he's set the rent too high, given that he's asking for more than I pay on my mortgage, and my house is at least half again the size of that one, if not double.

Speaking of mortgages, I wonder if I could refinance mine again.  I just did it about a year ago, but who knows, maybe I could lower it again.  I should look into that.

I have also been crafting, but haven't taken the time to post my Pinteresting to tumblr.  Ought to get on that!  I also made Vaughn's Christmas gift, which is a sock monkey.

And in my spare time, I've been working on my 1D big bang.  Uuuuuuuuuuugh.  Why so hard, writing?  I've hit the minimum word count, but it's not done, and I've hit that stretch where it feels like it never will be.  I wanted to have it finished before I went to New Hampshire, but I'm not sure if it will be.  I have a couple of days off before I go, so there's hope yet.

OOOOOOOOOh! And I'm going to buy myself an iPad for Christmas!  In New Hampster, where they don't believe in sales tax.

I haven't updated in forever, so here are some random happenings:

I went to Dragon*Con, and it was fun!  We did con very differently this time out - no big name panels, we skipped the parade, etc.  We went to a lot of the YA lit panels, and to see the ever so awesome Jane Espenson (which was cool because it was the first panel I'd seen where the draw was a TV writer, & because she brought Cheeks with her!) and to the fanfiction panel we had so much fun at last year.  It was just as much fun, but unfortunately I overindulged so we actually missed a day of con because of the sick and the sleeping off of it.  Oops.  We also went to the aquarium.  Yay, aquarium!

I'm doing lots of craft stuff right now, probably as a backlash to the fact that I've done some writing this summer.  Crafting is how I recharge from writing.  It's weird, because I want to do both at the same time, but I cannot.  Also, I'm loving blogging about the Pinterest stuff, so it's a cross-over there but not by much.  Tonight I sewed badges onto my con bag.  +100 Geek Points

One of my friends had a game night on Saturday and it was a ton of fun!  There was an awkward moment when I thought I was going to be the only single person there, but then a couple more girls showed up on their own so crisis averted!  I got to introduce them to Cranium, which is tons of fun to play with a large group.

We started our fall tennis season on Sunday.  We lost all 5 lines, which was not unexpected as we got moved up 2 levels this season (to C-3, which means nothing to non-Atlantan tennis players.)  But I was happy with my game - we played well together, and we came as absolutely close to winning as you can come without winning:  5-7, 6-7.  And we never gave up, as evidenced by those scores.  So I am pleased.

I got my Amanda Palmer kickstarter CD and so I've been listening to that a lot, since I'm going to her show on Saturday.  I'm excited to go, but also somewhat filled with trepidation, as I worry about being too... plain, I guess?  She's so creative and many of her fans seem to be as well.  I guess it goes back to that sometimes I feel like I'm too weird to be normal but not really weird enough to be weird.  Anyway, I like the CD a lot, and it's onsale for $5 at Amazon, or you can pay what you want on her site, apparently up to getting it for free, because she is amazing and would rather you listen to it than not listen to it.

Also over the weekend, I made a brief foray into being more proactive with the online dating because I was feeling lonely.  I actually messaged someone, instead of waiting for someone to message me.  He responded a bit confusingly neutral so I spent a day trying to figure out if he was brushing me off or not, and then by the time I decided to respond again to see what would happen, he'd deleted his profile.

Tonight, I watched the US X-Factor.  This is noteworthy because despite some of my recent fandoms (ie 1D, Kradam) I don't generally watch reality TV.  Full disclosure:  I watched the first two seasons of Survivor religiously, so I feel like some of this is my fault.  Oh, and I did watch most of a season of Pop Idol in the UK but there really wasn't anything else on.  Anyway, my biggest issue with shows like these is the humiliation factor.  I'm fine with the ones who can sing, or who are nearly there, but when someone seems deluded about their own abilities it is too much for me.  I feel so bad for them.  I had to change the channel a few times.  Also, why does everyone always go on about how mean Simon Cowell is?  He's honest, but I don't think he said anything mean-spirited.  If you suck, you suck, and you should have thought about it before you decided to suck on national television.

Mostly me just moaning about my life and posting (what I think are) funny asides.  Not really a fandom place for me, but I respond to fandom stuff.  Read as:  it links to my facebook, which is almost all IRL folk.  So my status updates are not fandom, but I have fandom conversations there.  Also, I'm still not over that one time Patrick Stump DM'd me.  Dying.

I have very few followers on tumblr, and I'm trying to up that.  It is mostly me reblogging things I like, which generally are either political, science, funny, or One Direction.  I just figured out last week how to post to tumblr without sending it to twitter, so it's becoming more fandomish.  I am loving this post, and I keep looking at 1D with babies, which is ovary-explosion inducing.

However, I've also started blogging there as well.  I am addicted to Pinterest.  I love crafting.  The two have combined to me blogging about trying out stuff I've found on Pinterest.

So far, I've done turning a t-shirt into a tank top, making a really awesome vodka slush drink, and duck-shaped baby washcloths.  It's a ton of fun, and so I just wanted to share it with you.

Hello!  I realize it's been a while since I posted on here.  And I was doing so much better!

Anyway, happenings chez moi:  honestly, not much.  I have finished my sewing class, which was a ton of fun.  We made a napkin, a placemat with a pocket, a tote bag, and a pillow cover with a zipper!  I would very much like to continue taking the classes.  However, work is planning to interfere with that so I am unsure when I'll next have the opportunity.

Speaking of, I'm preparing to go to our home offices in New Hampshire for three full weeks. We are rolling out big changes and I get to go learn all about them.  I'm excited to learn new things, but a bit sad to leave for three weeks.  I will miss my cat.  /crazy cat lady

I will also miss my office!  I bought a new tv this weekend, and moved my old one (which is not old, just older) down to the office last night.  Today I set up my Roku on it, and I am very happy with it.  I can stream Netflix and Pandora, plus there's a channel that you sync your ipod up to so you can play it off the tv, and once I am back home, I will join HuluPlus to get that as well.  And I haven't explored all the channel options yet!  It's pretty cool!  But between the 3 weeks in NH, and then being onsite 3 of 4 weeks after that, I am going to hold off on paying for hulu just yet.

Otherwise, I'm just doing the same old thing:  a little bit of tennis, a little bit of dieting (down 6 lbs since December!), a little bit of crafting.

Oh!  I am excited to see the new Chris Pine movie that's coming out this weekend - the one with Tom Hardy and Reese Witherspoon.  I fully recognize it has a name but a) I don't know what it is, 2) I am too lazy to Google it, and iii.) one of their posters called it Spy vs Spy and that is now how I think of it in my head.  So maybe I'll go see it this weekend, or maybe I'll wait and go next week.  But not on Valentine's Day.

How do the weekends go so quickly?

Today was a nice day - got up and met J & S for lunch, then we went to see Immortals. Their choice, not mine. It was as crap as it looks from the trailers, but hey, there were a lot of three-quarters naked men running around in short skirts so that's something. Then I did a bit of Christmas shopping and came home, then spent the rest of the evening working on my craft project. \o/

Last night while I was crafting, I was catching up on my hulu queue. Is anyone else watching American Horror Story? cut for spoilers )

Anyway, I am now all caught up on Grimm, Suburgatory, & American Horror Story. I still have two episodes of Castle to watch, and four of Once Upon a Time. And pretty much all of season 7 of Supernatural - I think I watched the first episode.

  • I played tennis yesterday and today for the first time in a month. I took the month of November off from it entirely, to try to give the plantar fasciitis in my right foot a chance to heal. It hasn't. :( But I was so happy to play again. Playing two days back to back was probably not the best plan. Drills (community co-ed open play*) are on Fridays, my team play time is on Saturdays, and practice is on Mondays. I hate to give up any of them, but I think I will have to pick two of the three going forward. Friday or Saturday, and then Mondays.

  • I have also joined the YMCA. I have been meaning to do more core strength training for a while now, and they also offer pilates, yoga, Zumba, and water aerobics classes. The Zumba is out for now, but the others - particularly pilates and water aerobics - let me exercise without putting strain on my foot. They also offer something they call Coach Approach, where you talk to a fitness person about your goals and they help you build a program to meet them. I had my first meeting today. I wasn't crazy about the woman I saw, but I am happy about the weight training program I will be starting.

  • I am going gang-busters on the craft project I started today. It's a cross-stitch wall hanging of this picture I found on the internet. I will post a picture of the finished product.

  • M is home, so hopefully no more crazy cat stuff.

*There was no way to type that to not sound a little dirty.

I meant to come on earlier and update, but oh, how the evenings just slip away!

I had a very nice weekend:

Friday was tennis but no going out after - everyone else was out of town, injured, or not there. I could have met up with friends, but honestly after playing in the humidity & heat I was happy just to get takeout and go home. I'm making a mix for bandombigbang, so I worked on that.

Saturday was Ladies Brunch (G called it that once and now it's stuck that way in my head because I made fun of her for it), aka hanging out with my non-tennis friends. We tried a new restaurant in Buckhead, and I had the most divine breakfast sandwich - black forest ham, brie, and apples, with a maple syrup dipping sauce and a side of cheddar cheese grits. AND I DON'T EVEN LIKE HAM. It was amazing! Then after I did a little shopping, and found some great deals. I got a BCBG shirt that had originally been $140 for $10, and four packs of scrapbooking paper for about the cost of one if I'd gotten it at the craft store - I heart Marshalls. The only sad thing was I realized after I left that I had a card for instore credit from a return that I'd forgotten about, but I'll just use it next time. I also bought white pants. I haven't owned white pants in well over twenty years. We'll see how that ends up!

Saturday night, a friend invited me over to a dinner party at her house. One of her high school friends is a chef, and he cooked us a vegan meal - it was delicious! I can't remember now what all there was but dessert was chocolate mousse made from avocado and coconut.

Sunday was quiet. I'm working on finishing my 2006 photo album - I am through April totally, and through September without captions. I think I started working on it in June, so that's a pretty rapid pace. I'm hoping to power through this week and finish it by the end of the weekend.

And that's about it. I'm still not sleeping right, my neck hurts, but otherwise I am well. I've emailed the potential renter and am waiting to hear back; thanks to everyone for advising me this afternoon!
vixalicious: (Cat - Hello Internets)
Tomorrow's Agenda:

930: Stumble downstairs for breakfast
10: Walk on treadmill
11-1: Clean up self, house
1-hopefully 7: Work
7-9: Tennis
9: Pick up food

We'll see, anyway. I may be being optimistic about getting done with work in time to get to tennis.

This weekend was kind of blah. I went to tennis on Friday night despite having a headache; playing didn't make it worse, but it also didn't make it better. I went home instead of going out like I normally do, and then I slept most of the day away on Saturday. Like, I slept til noon, then took a nap at two. I was finally getting around to doing a couple of things when Scott called and invited me down to dinner and a movie.

While I was there, he mentioned that he might have a lead on a renter for me if I wanted it. I said no, but now I'm re-thinking it. He said she's looking for something short-term. It would mean moving my drumkit to the basement, and moving the guestroom stuff into the packing room, and my guest bathroom would be for the renter. I've emailed him to say that I might be interested after all. I think it would depend on meeting her, her not being allergic to cats, and being willing to stay at least 6 months. The extra cash would be nice, though.

Then today, I slept more, then went grocery shopping. I start back on my meal plan on Tuesday, and I am looking forward to it! I need to detox after a month of travelling. I don't want to step back on the scale though, ugh. I think I'll leave that til next week. After that, I came home and cleaned up the kitchen & the living room a bit (possibly due to thinking about having a roommate and me being a slob) while ruminating on how unfair it is that things get dirty when you're barely there to use them. I spent the rest of the evening working on my photo album for 2006 - I did all of May's trip to Paris, and laid out June. *sigh* I miss international travelling. Just the fun touristy parts, not the actual work. I keep reminding myself of that.

Oh, and I didn't win the lottery last week. I have three more chances on the ticket I bought, where I am betting that I will continue not to win the lottery. Which really is too bad as my plan for my winnings gets more detailed every day.

*I've decided that when I can't think of a title, I'm just going to use whatever random lyrics are playing on my ipod at the moment. Prepare yourselves accordingly. Feel free to play 'Name that Tune' in the comments.

Friday:
I went to tennis drills, where we warmed up for ten minutes before the skies opened up. Then I spent an hour hanging out at the tennis center chatting with my team captain who works there in the summer when she's off from teaching school. Then I went out to dinner with friends, for our usual Friday night tacos.

Saturday:
I drove up to Vinings Buckhead to get my second laser hair removal. I liked the attendant better this time, I think I will request her next time. She was kinda trashy, but you could also tell she actually did something so that's a win. After running the rest of my errands, I went to see Super 8 with a friend.

OMG.

OMG, y'all. Whoever did the marketing for this movie should be fired! I was sort of on the fence about seeing it; we were originally going to go see Green Lantern but the timings didn't work out. So how this movie should have been marketed: someone drops the Goonies into the middle of a monster movie. Go. Go now! I laughed, I cried, I gasped, then I laughed some more because my friend screamed out loud in a crowded movie theater and I am a bad friend like that.

Sunday:
My partner & I kicked ASS in tennis! We won 6-0, 6-0. We were a well-oiled machine. We rock. :) And our opponents were nice, and fun, which trust me is NOT the norm. A lot of people take amateur tennis far too seriously. After I got cleaned up, I got my grocery shopping done and picked up Mexican takeout for dinner (I totes deserved guacamole!) Then I worked on my photo album from 2006 - I got through April, where I got to document my first ever face-to-face meeting with [personal profile] krazycat! ILU! Can't wait til November when we can hang out again. Why is November so far away?

Today:
TODAY WORK DID NOT SUCK. I nearly finished my installation in one day, which should give me plenty of time this week to finish up the training from last week. I know the idea of getting to do more work in the week isn't normally a positive, but I would really like to have everything wrapped up by Friday so that I can have the next two weeks (one vacation, one work conference) without old stuff hanging over my head. And then I went to tennis practice, and that also did not suck - although to be fair, it doesn't usually. It was soooooo muggy though. I was literally dripping by the end of it. Good workout though!

Today's Random Thought: My face looks thin again in the mirror. I like.
vixalicious: (Music Appreciation)
Going to the Gardens
I did end up going to the Botanical Gardens last night for their Cocktails in the Gardens event. It was nice - after threatening to rain all day, the skies cleared and we got to watch a beautiful sunset over downtown from a swing while sipping pineapple Flirtinis. And I finally had an excuse to wear the vintage 50s faux-pearl necklace my mom gave me a few years back. Win-win.

Drills getting rained out
I tried to go play tennis tonight, but we didn't make it ten minutes before the deluge began. It was a scary one too, lots of wind and thunder. But it blew through pretty quickly, and I still went out to dinner with my friends. Sad I didn't get to play though!

Eaten alive!
In the ten minutes I was outside, I seem to have gotten at least two new bug bites. Between that, last night at the gardens, and tennis last weekend, I am a bug buffet. And since I have such pale skin, I don't just get bites, I get welts. Good times. :( Must buy bug spray.

Things I need to do this weekend
Buy bug spray. Get my next laser hair removal treatment. Buy a box of white adhesive labels for scrapbooking. Go grocery shopping.

Also...
Yay, New York State marriage equality! 1 down, 44 more to go. I'm pretty sure you can count on Georgia being somewhere toward the end of that.

*cough*

Ugh, still sick. This morning, it felt like I was choking every time I coughed. So that was FUN. In a 'I think I'm dying' kind of way.

But as always, I feel better in the evenings, so I feel almost normal now. Except that if I talk too much, I cough. This made the four-hour training session I had to lead today interesting. My colleague said she didn't notice it though, so I guess I was good at getting away from my headset in time.

I've been pretty tired so I haven't accomplished much this week, other than tennis practice on Monday - which I'm proud of myself for going to, as I really didn't want to, but I felt good once I was there. I haven't done anything more on my photo albums because I discovered some photos I hadn't had printed, so I've ordered those. Once they come in though, I'm on it! This should cover me from May to July, so hopefully I can zip right through those. I'm getting the rest of the photos ready to go so that I can take snapfish up on its next offer of free shipping. If I'd gotten my act together sooner, I could have gotten these shipped free, so I'm kicking myself a bit for that.

And now back to my exciting evening of tv watching!
vixalicious: (Music Appreciation)
Ugh, I'm tired. I think I've caught a cold - tomorrow I'm going to have to run to the pharmacy to stock up on Cold FX.

So... weekend. I went out to dinner with friends on Friday; slept, slept, slept on Saturday, then worked on my photo albums. Today was tennis, then a quick run down to S's house to make sure he wasn't dead since we were supposed to have lunch and he wasn't answering his phone (he's not dead, just spacey due to pain killers and lack of sleep from back spasms.)

You may recall some months back I made the decision to work on this year's photo album in "real time." The plan was that I would stay one month behind, ie in November I should be working on September. Yeah. I just finished April? Whee.

I'm going to try to finish May this week. We'll see!

Also this week I'm going to try to clean out my closet, and pot the plants I bought on Saturday to replace the cacti I killed. Yes, I killed two cacti - and NOT by overwatering. Plants that can survive the desert can't survive me.

Tennis was kind of weird today. I won, but it was a strange thing. She had a very unusual serve - it was basically a drop shot. It was easy enough to deal with that, but then I think it made me think she wasn't a good player, and then she got a lot of points on me by disproving that. It was the last game of my K-Swiss singles league (unless I make the playoffs, which I don't think I will, but you never know.) I really don't enjoy playing singles. It's great when it's with a friend and we still chat, but competitively it's just you out there, and some players take it a bit too seriously. I much prefer doubles - at least then you aren't in it alone. But playing singles makes me a better doubles player, and it's more exercise, so I'll probably keep doing it in the spring and fall seasons. I am pleased with my outcome this season: 4 wins, 3 losses, with no scores being below 8 (the highest possible score available when losing.)

Starting with a whine, ending with a whine. I can't stop sneezing and my throat huuuuuurrrts. :(
vixalicious: (Default)
I don't know what it is, but lately any time I go on a trip, I spend the next week after I get back unable to accomplish anything more than sitting on my couch. Part of it this week has been working 12 hour days, but part of it is just hibernation.

Things I really must accomplish this weekend:
Mowing the grass before people think my house is abandoned.
Cleaning my bathroom. No seriously. Things are breeding.
Start exercise program.

Things I'd really rather do this weekend:
Read. I has liberry books \o/
Craft. I have all the photos in for doing my March and April memory albums, and all the photos for my childhood photo album. Plus I'd like to pull out my sewing machine and refresh myself on how to use it so I can finish up the blanket I started aaaages ago.
Hang out with friends. Festivals galore this weekend!
Play tennis. Between work and vacation, it's been over three weeks since I've picked up a racket.

At least I have an extra day, maybe I can do half from each list.
vixalicious: (Default)
I know, I ask that every Sunday night.

So this week... this week I let myself mope. That's done now. So this weekend I got up on Saturday and mowed the lawn, despite the ever-threatening rain which luckily never materialized (sorry Nashville, it's all yours.) I even learned how to change the oil in my lawnmower, go me! Now I just have to figure out how to sharpen the blade. Or at least what tool to buy to do so. However, that's a battle for another day.

I also started working on February for my 'scrap-as-you-go-2010' photo album. I'm a bit behind, obviously, but I hope to catch up this month, it's my new May goal. Goals are good. :) February is a big month for photos, since that's when K & I went to Charleston. Looking at the photos is surprisingly NOT sad-making; we had fun. Between yesterday and today, I got about halfway done mounting the photos, and got the labels written up but not printed. To catch up, I need to finish the page layouts for the rest of the photos, attach all labels, review March calendar, print labels for work and movies, gather and have printed all photos from March, and then do the layouts, mounting and labelling for March. And I really ought to go ahead and go through the Coachella photos and figure out what I want to print so I don't waste money on prints I won't use. Time-consuming hobby is time-consuming.

In other hobby-related news, my tennis team won our division this season, and today we played in the playoffs for the first time! We lost miserably, but I am hanging on to the positive: we've never gone so far, and the team that beat us has been playing for five years to our 1.5 years.

I am also thinking/planning on taking a yoga class this week. I haven't in ages.
vixalicious: (Default)
No, I haven't given up on this. I will complete it! Even though I've spread it out over 3 months now.

Day 26: Your week, in great detail

Monday, March 1:
Woke up feeling not so great, with a bad headache. Worked all day, nothing too exciting. Then I skipped tennis practice since I was feeling not so good. I ran over to Michaels to buy paper for my photo album, and then went grocery shopping. I was going to get myself dinner at Moe's, but I missed their operating hours by about ten minutes. Came home, fixed myself dinner, worked on my photo album.

Tuesday, March 2:
Woke up feeling feverish and clammy. I took my temperature, and it was at 99. I was actually relieved, because that explains why I'd been in such a bad mood; I'm always rage-y when I'm getting sick. Finished up work early, so I worked on my photo album. Made myself some soup.

Wednesday, March 3:
Still tired, but feeling better. Worked - did some support call work, held my two training sessions for the week. Found out that Bob Bryar really has left MCR, very sad. Worked captions for my photo album. Stayed up far too late faffing about on the internet, re-tagging old journal entries.

Thursday, March 4:
Got up and ran to my physical therapy appointment for my carpal tunnel. Last appointment, yay! Grabbed lunch from Willy's, and came home. Worked on support calls all afternoon. Completed the embellishments on the photo album. Was safety person for my friend Katherine for her first eHarmony date; she was not kidnapped, yay!

Friday, March 5:
Worked on support calls in the morning; annoyingly I have 5 going right now (this is not my actual job, just helping out another department) which are basically resolved but am waiting to hear back from the client to confirm that what I've told them actually worked. Then did my actual job in the afternoon, four hours of conference calls, an hour and a half of paperwork. Took a super quick shower, and ran to tennis drills. Went out to dinner afterward with Katherine, our regular Tennis and Tequila outing at a local Mexican place. Came home after and put the photo album together, finished, yay!

Saturday, March 6:
I took a day for myself. Slept in til noon, didn't really get up at that point. Worked on tagging old LJ entries, read a blog by a woman who gave up her career to move to Hong Kong with her boyfriend, did laundry, cuddled cat. K came down after work, and we went over to my friends' house for an awesome vegetarian dinner (fake chicken cordon bleu, rudabega (sp?), asparagus, and homemade rolls, with pears and caramel ice cream for dessert, plus yummy lemonade cocktails!) and a movie - Girls Will Be Girls - which should totally be a cult classic, it's hilarious. Hint: none of the girls are actually girls. Came home really late.

Sunday, March 7:
K got up to leave for his parents' house in Florida for spring break early. After he left, I went back to bed until noon. Still tired, but not so hungover as I probably should have been (yummy cocktails were yummy) thanks to copious amounts of water ingested throughout the night. Personal computer wouldn't start; took battery out, started up. Had to restore, screen is not working right (flickers, goes dark, etc). Backed up files in case of premature death; will probably take it in to Best Buy sometime this week. Ran to play tennis, sort of won - I won the first set 7-6, and then half way through the second set, when the score was 3-3, my opponent forfeited due to fatigue (she has had a cold this week.) I am happy to have the points, but it was a bit of a let down. One of the girls on my team was playing a match at the same time, so I stuck around to watch the end of her match, and then we went to dinner. I came home, and have planted myself on the couch, and that pretty much brings us up to date.

Future Days )

Done!

I finished my photo album! :D Or, at least, it's all put together. I'm sure that I'll flip through it and find something that needs fixing or adjusting.

I've also been going back through my old LJ entries and tagging them, which I think I mentioned. What I have discovered is that I used to do a lot of memes, and I was sick a lot when I was on the road, and I whined about my job a lot. Good times.

Mostly because tonight, for the first time ever, as far as I can recollect, I made soup from scratch. And it was edible! It was a recipe [livejournal.com profile] typhoo put up last year, for sweet potato and lentil soup. It's actually good, even though I didn't entirely follow the recipe because tomatoes are yucky. Next time I think I might try substituting something in their place, like red pepper or snow peas.

Also, I finished the basic layout of my France sabbatical photo album, meaning all the paper is glued down and the photos are attached. Tomorrow I will work on captions for the photos, labels, that sort of thing, and then finish it up with the embellishments. Then all that remains is putting the pages in the actual album! This one went pretty fast. I think I started it somewhere in mid February, and really have done most of it in the last few days.

And I ordered prints of the photos for January and February stuff for this year, so that should get here right around the time I finish up! Yay!

Also, in accordance with one of my goals for the year, I am going back through old journal entries and updating my tags. I am finished with 2003, and working on 2004. I had forgotten how long I'd had this thing!

Off to crawl into bed...

So usually when I work on my photo albums, I am a few years behind. For example, right now I'm working on the one from my four-week sabbatical to France, which was in 2006. After that, if I were to start working as I usually do, I would start working on the album for the whole year of 2005. Yes, I'm four years behind. Yes, that's more than usual. Yes, that's starting to bother me. :D

So my thought is that for this year, I would try to keep up in mostly real time. I don't know how it's going to work, but I'm going to give it a whirl. My plan is to be one month behind, so at the end of March, I would do February, and at the end of April, I would do March, and so on. We'll see how it goes!

Day 25: Your day, in great detail

I woke up with the cat on top of me, as per usual. Then I hit snooze three times. Then I reset my alarm to get up an hour later, but only made it half an hour before the guilt (and the sound of my cell phone ringing) got me up. I had my usual breakfast of oatmeal and chocolate milk while watching an episode of Supernatural on TNT (Heart, one of my favorites).

Then I made my way down to my office to start up my laptop and do my one assigned task of the day, an interface preparation call for a client that I'd prepped last week but then figured out we hadn't done everything needed. Afterward, I chatted with my team lead on IM, then my cat decided to chat with him, then I yelled at her to get off my keyboard.

I came back upstairs and had lunch, two mango & black bean quesadillas, yummy! I watched a little bit of the Olympics - women's curling, Switzerland vs China I think. Back to work, I started watching our support queue to help them out, and grabbed a couple of cases. One I emailed the instructions to, the other I called and left a message. He never called back. Odds he will call on Monday when I'm actually busy, 100%. Gave up on pretending to work around 4pm.

Went into my craft room and worked on my photo album from my month in Toulouse. I have it all lined out, but wasn't happy with the paper I'm using. It's lovely, almost too pretty to use! But there are too many patterns too close together. I tried to find some neutral papers in my overly large paper selection, but everything was either too busy or the wrong shade. :(

Began the Friday night texting marathon of 'what are you/we doing' between K and my tennis friends. Discovered that my tennis partner for tomorrow had called to cancel; arranged another match in its place. Took shower (you thought I'd left that out? No, I'm just a lazy slob.) Then I put on my tennis clothes, checked my work email one more time before shutting the computer down for the weekend, gave the cat a treat, and then headed into town to go to tennis drills.

Chatted with my tennis coach for twenty minutes before he decided that really, no one else was coming to drills and so they were cancelled. Texted my friend who was planning to come, and we made plans to meet later for dinner instead. Headed back to the house, changed clothes, took another look at the photo album. Realized I had time, so I headed to Michaels Craft store. Picked out a nice neutral beige that will be an offset to the pattern frenzy, 25 sheets for $6. Lusted over a beautiful set of textured neutral paper, but since it was $20 I decided not to. My hobby, it is expensive. Also, on the way to the checkout, saw a two pack of Reeses Easter eggs. Cannot resist! They are the perfect ratio of peanut butter to chocolate!

Drove back into town, headed for Wahoo Grill. Ate 1 of the Easter eggs on the way. Arrived to discover that there was no parking and an hour wait. We went to Figo instead, an Atlanta chain of Italian restaurants. Had bruschetta, a spinach salad, and a really lovely ravioli with marscapone (sp) and Vidalia onions. And a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, yay!

Came home, toyed briefly with the idea of working more on the photo album but abandoned it after clearing off my work area. Fed the cat, scooped the litter box. Poured myself a glass of milk and set down to watch the Olympics and eat the second Reeses Egg. Started sorting songs on my ipod into playlists. Watched Apollo Ohno get disqualified and be kind of pissy about it.

And now, I'm thinking bed time.
