Every year, my company, like most, does employee evaluations. I can see the benefit of an evaluation: to give an employee a clear view of their worth to the organization for which they work. Fine. Dandy. No problem.

However, I think my company cheats. They make us do self-evaluations. Not as a part of the review, but pretty much as the whole review. I know how I think I'm doing, I just want to know how much of that has been reflected back to the corporate offices. Most years, I would say I want to know if they know exactly how good I am at what I do. This year, I'd have to be honest and say that I want to know if they really realize how burned out I am and if that's reflected in my work. Either way, I won't get that, and I think it's just a cop out, a way to make us do the bulk of the work rather than our managers.

Why can't you say you feel you're very good at what you do but you are in need of some serious time off to stay at the top of your game? Do it!!!
