Saturday was [livejournal.com profile] eeeevil_genius' birthday, so we went out to lunch and then went to see Spiderman 2. Um, it was not good. At one point I was biting my hand to keep from laughing out loud. And it wasn't a funny bit. And I swear that 2 hours was longer than the 4 I spent watching Return of the King. Not that it didn't have it's moments - the Spidey swinging around I always find fun, and the editor of the Bugle always makes me laugh. But Tobey makes so many bizarre faces that [livejournal.com profile] eeevil_genius and I have completely removed him from the Hot Boys List. Because, as [livejournal.com profile] eeevil_genius says, you just know that's what he'd look like when he comes. *shudders*

For dinner, we went to Pura Vida - very cool tapas restaurant which I enjoyed muchly, highly recommend the mushrooms if anyone goes - with some friends and then went out for drinks. Scott said it was one of the nicest birthdays he'd had in a while, so yay!

Sunday, we had brunch and then shopped for PDAs and iPods for Scott, then he had to fly out. I took a nap (because apparently getting up at 10 am was just far too stressful) then went to a cookout at some friends' house. It was a good evening, but I was really down when I got home. I don't get homesick very often, but the 4th is a big thing for my family and I went home last year because Brad (my brother) was home from Germany and we all went to the lake and watched the fireworks from the boat. Also, my sister called Friday night because she sprained her ankle and I feel like (silly as it is) I should be there to help her.

But today really helped to combat that. I was invited to a barbecue by [livejournal.com profile] karlita who kindly answered my craigslist ad looking for friends in the Atlanta area, and I got to meet a whole bunch of cool people (some of whose LJ names I've forgotten, so if you met me and I haven't friended you, friend me and I'll friend you back). Then I came home and had quick chats with [livejournal.com profile] sparktastic and [livejournal.com profile] shirecreature.

I am also working on the feng shui (sp?) in my bedroom, after learning that having only one bedside table is horrible feng shui. So now I have two. And I've learned that light maple is said "ahorn hell" in Danish, so there's my cultural lesson for the day. So the next time you're in Denmark and someone says "hell" at you, they are either calling you light or maple (I'm not sure which, any Danes out there to translate?)

Tomorrow I have to go buy a lamp to go on my new nightstand, because the article I read said that you should also have a light source on each side of your bed. So I am not fully feng shui'd - just fenged.

Oh, and they started a new meme at the barbecue today:

What two movies are you?
I am Amelie crossed with Heathers.

Did you ever hear the original Mockingbird? It's very cool.

I don't go for that feng shui stuff, and apparently if I did I'd be all lopsided anyway.

Thanks for the chat yesterday!

I don't think that feng shui works for those of us who are fortunate enough to be thumbless. But then again I haven't tried it so I'm not really sure.

What article are you reading? Can I get a copy? I might try it. You never know it could be fun and might actually work.
