The following was completely copied and pasted from [livejournal.com profile] and_chocolate's LJ:

"I believe that the president's leadership in the actions taken in Iraq demonstrate an incompetence in terms of knowledge, judgment and experience in making the decisions that would have been necessary to truly accomplish the mission without the deaths to our troops and the cost to our taxpayers."
--House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi

One of the Emperor's particularly nasty minions, the House Majority leader [Tom DeLay], responded:

"Nancy Pelosi should apologize for her irresponsible, dangerous rhetoric. She apparently is so caught up in partisan hatred for President Bush that her words are putting American lives at risk."

(Source: CNN)

That's right, folks, it's now official: criticize our so-called President and you are endangering American lives.

But a better president than Dubya said this:

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." - Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

I suggest the following meme: Everyone who is so inclined, write down that Roosevelt quote on a postcard and send it to the dear House Majority Leader at either of the following addresses:

The Hon. Tom DeLay
242 Cannon HOB
Washington, DC 20515

The Hon. Tom DeLay
Office of the House Majority Leader
H-107 The Capitol
Washington, DC 20515

Then post this info in your journal and see if we can generate a big, fat reminder that dissent and criticism are not treason.

Thanks Vix! I'll do that very thing. I just loved how Karen Hughes spun that all of us who marched on Washington are terrorists.
This administration is dangerous and anyone who can't see it is blind.

Michael Moore's Farenheit 911 won first place in Canne (well done there) so apparently there are people out there who are getting it. He got a 20 minute ovation when his movie was presented. 20 minutes, peeps on their feet for 20 minutes...clapping and cheering. Amazing. (Anybody want to move to France?)

Oh, it'll be released, no doubt. I think Miramax has the distribution rights. Winning at Cannes just pushed the price up I'm guessing. I think Michael wants to come out on July 4th.

I'll use any excuse I can find to move to France (or right next door to Belgium where they speak French but watch Alf and Touching Evil!)

There's something very endearing about a country that chose an old show like Alf instead of Friends or (gag me) Everybody(does not)Like(s)Raymond. Sort of part of their quirky charm. And I can't speak for their French, but they certainly speak English beautifully. I must have been to the Alabama of France when I visited last year. The people I encountered were very down to earth...(although the subject of the Belgians didn't come up) Btw, I LOVE your Johnny icon's!
