Directions:
1. Take five books off your bookshelf.
2. Book #1 -- first sentence
3. Book #2 -- last sentence on page fifty
4. Book #3 -- second sentence on page one hundred
5. Book #4 -- next to the last sentence on page one hundred fifty
6. Book #5 -- final sentence of the book
7. Make the five sentences into a paragraph.
Millions upon millions of years ago, when the continents were already formed and the principle features of the earth had been decided, there existed, then as now, one aspect of the world that dwarfed all others.
“Why should I give myself to a man?”
On ordinary days, the tents were populated only by women and children. On the dock below there was a man wearing a Red Sox cap, and seeing this caused Miles to remember that he’d forgotten his mitt.
I like it just fine.
1. Hawaii by James A. Michener
2. City of Darkness, City of Light by Marge Piercy
3. The Red Tent by Anita Diamant
4. Empire Falls by Richard Russo
5. The Lunatic Café by Laurell K. Hamilton
I did mine a bit differently - rather than pulling books off my bookshelf, I pulled them from my "To Read" pile.
