Can someone who's been watching 'Friday Night Lights' through season 3 help me out?

What the hell happened?

Season 3 picks up and it feels like I must have missed about three eps from Season 2. Tami's the principal? Smash is hurt? Lyla's given up on her Jesus crusade? Where's Street? What happened with his babymama? Where's Santiago? WTF, WTF?

If all this is answered in Season 3, I don't need details, because I'm going to catch up. I really am just looking for confirmation that I'm not crazy and that this is weird.

I think because of the writer's strike, they started the season like that. There was just a lot of plot development that we never saw. Either that or I missed a huge chunk of the show with out knowing it?

Oh, of course!! I somehow completely forgot that they'd be affected by that too. Apparently shaky camera work = reality tv in my brain or something.
