Out and about...

So I finally ventured out of my hotel today, and took the tram into Central Amsterdam. If you ever do this, hold on tight to the railings - I'm guessing it's electric because you can't hear it and so you never know when you're going to take off, and the ride is very jolting with a lot of turns. I managed not to fall over, but it was a near thing a time or two.

I went in because it was late-night shopping night, so I wandered around the shopping district. I only bought a toothbrush, though. My sister has a thing for foreign toothbrushes. It was not a great night to be out - rainy and very windy. I came back after about an hour, but at least I've looked around, and gotten a couple ideas for gifts.

And now, I go to bed... I'm really tired tonight. Also, if you've left me a comment on another post, I'm not ignoring you. LJ has decided to break my ability to answer comments. I get an error about S2 when I try. Any other users getting this or just my special hell?

Yes, it appears to be so. Ah well, a friend showed me a way around it, so I guess I'll give it the weekend to straighten itself out before I ask the help desk folks.

I've never got into one of those trams. I was stuck in amsterdam for one day and I didn't like it very much *shrugs*

It's cold and wet and rainy right now, not optimal conditions for viewing any city, but I've yet to make up my mind about it one way or the other.
