Day 1: Close on new house
Day 2: Purchase shiny new curved shower curtain rod for new house
Day 9: Move into new house
Day 10: Need to take shower, attempt to install shower curtain rod. Notice that rod has actually been returned to the store and is missing instructions. Spare parts bag has been opened and there is no way of telling if all parts are there. Take shower with no rod, clean bathroom floor. Return shower curtain rod to store, get new one.
Day 15: Return home from trip. Too tired to mess with it. Take shower with no rod, clean bathroom floor. Examine shower curtain rod, notice is brushed nickel, not chrome. Spend rest of the day trying to decide how much that matters, as shower fixtures are chrome, but medicine cabinet handles are brushed nickel. Decide it does not matter.
Day 16: Open shower curtain package to install shower curtain. Discover that shower curtain rod is 59 inches and shower is 57 3/4 inches. Instructions say to cut down; I only own butter knives. Take shower with no rod, clean bathroom floor. Take shower curtain rod back to store, perform abject begging for plumbing department man until he cuts the rod down by hand.
Day 17: Carefully read instructions. Discover there are different methods for mounting into drywall or studs. Giggle for 5 minutes about mounting into studs. Get out shiny new stud-finder (xmas pressie from uncle, thank you uncle!), determine one side has studs, one does not. Get out shiny new drill (xmas pressie from dad, thank you dad) and follow instructions for the stud side. Attempt to put screws in, screws will not go all the way in. Curse several times. Take shower with no rod, clean bathroom floor.
Day 18: Remove mounting on stud side. Install drywall side with no issue. Attach rod. Make repeated attempts to shove the other side into place, finally winning out through brute force and scratching the wall. Put one screw part way in to hold. Go to store. Buy shorter screws. Put in. Rod holds. Attach shower liner and curtain. Take shower, step out onto blissfully dry bathroom floor.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what you can expect from this blog in the future. I will understand any defriendings that happen now :)

Also, for the second shower, I'm buying a tension rod. Installation time: 2 minutes.
