Taken from an article in the Seattle Times:

"South Dakota voters rejected the toughest abortion law in the land — a measure that would have outlawed the procedure under almost any circumstances."

Thank you, South Dakota voters!

I still think that law is the start of an end-run on Roe v. Wade, but maybe now it will take it a little longer to get there.

Also, I checked the results of the Georgia election... I think 2 people I voted for actually got elected... and one of those was John Lewis and no one is stupid enough to run against him.

I wonder when John Lewis is going to retire. A few years from now when Shirley Franklin is no longer mayor, if his seat is open, I suspect she would be a shoe-in for it. I don't know what other office she can move on to that is higher than her current position and she has a chance of winning (no way rural Georgia is going to elect her Senator or Governor... heck, even lots of people in suburbs say they'd never vote for her).

Just be glad you're not in Cherokee County. Not a single Democrat on the ballot for local offices. Sad. It's almost like living in Nazi Germany - well maybe not quite that bad, but still pretty depressing. And to have to cast your ballot in Sonny Perdue's homophobic Baptist church, now that was a trip.
