Holiday in Spain

Everybody's gone
They left the television screaming that the radio's on
Someone stole my shoes
But there's a couple of bananas and a bottle of booze
Well happy new year's, baby
We could probably fix it if we clean it up all day
Or simply pack our bags
And catch a plane to Barcelona 'cause this city's a drag
take a holiday in Spain
Leave my wings behind me
Flush my worries down the drain
And fly away to somewhere new
Two hours. I just spent two hours of my life on the phone with Delta. But the tickets are reserved for late May, flying into Lisbon, Portugal, and flying out of Barcelona, Spain. I still have two weeks before I have to ticket them, so I will probably try to get better flight times for us.
That said, we really have no plan. It’s great! We’re just sort of going. Getting a car and driving around, going from Lisbon down to the Gibraltar area (note to self: find out if you can see the rock of Gibraltar from there or if that’s like a boat ride or what), and then maybe taking a ferry over to Morocco if it doesn’t seem too dodgy, and then up through Seville and Alhambra, to Barcelona.
Anybody got any tips? Suggestions? Things we should know?

You're gonna like Barcelona. It's... different :)

Date: 2005-01-27 04:38 pm (UTC)Thanks for the info! We're finishing up in Barcelona, and I'm excited to see it. I like.... different.... places. *g*
So, as a Spanish native, would you do the trip to Morocco? I had a coworker who took a ferry over for the day (I think to Tangiers, but I'm not sure). I'm just wondering if it's safe, two women alone and all that.

Date: 2005-01-28 08:46 am (UTC)There's a ferry, yeah, I think the trip lasts like 1 hour and a half, but I'm not sure. The ferry's destination (the one I took) was to Ceuta (that's a Spanish colony in Morocco), but there are also ferries to other places to Morocco, Melilla (the other colony)...
I don't really like Morocco, nor any other Islam country for all that matter, but that's only me. Just watch out your wallet if you go... but you have also to watch out your wallet everywhere else =P

Date: 2005-01-28 05:03 pm (UTC)The concern for me about going to an Islamic country is traveling without a male presence. It seems unwise, as it's so against their culture. I don't know... guess we'll drive up to the ferry and make up our minds then ;)
Thanks for the info!

Date: 2005-01-29 03:53 pm (UTC)Which is awful, but it's true. I told my husband about the two of you going alone to Morocco, and he told me to advice you about that. Never go out of turistic places (and Morocco doesn't have many). And I agree with him. It's quite dangerous for two girls travel alone to those places. Again: it's awful, but (again), it's true :S
