Planes, trains, and automobiles…
Jul. 19th, 2003 10:15 pmOk, so Planes, ferries, and golf carts would be more accurate, but it just doesn’t have the same ring to it. I took the plane to St. Thomas, then a ferry to St. John, and a golf cart to my room.

I thought the ferry ride would be slow and boring, but it was fantastic! I’m counting the trip as my first true ocean-going experience. We were splashing through waves, getting hit with spray, and going fast (at least faster than any ferry I’d every been on; it wasn’t a car ferry, just a people one). The experience was unexpectedly sensual, and I found myself wishing for that nearly naked island boy my friends had been joking about. But it wasn’t to be.
As we neared St. John, an unexpected offer was made:

LOL! Any takers?
I arrived on the island in time for to see the sun set behind the mountains

So beautiful! More tomorrow!
