Weekend stuff - I saw The Fog. Eh. I saw Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. LOVED it. I saw the Atlanta Rollergirls, whee rollerderby!!
Today, I went to the doctor to get a physical, which I haven't done full scale since about 2001. I'll put more info under a cut below, but the short, non-TMI version is I appear to be in decent health, which is yay! Also, if anyone in the metro Atlanta area is looking for a GP, I highly, highly recommend my doctor - Dr. Jeffrey Rollins - he is the only MD I've ever been to where he spends more time with you than the nurse does. He rocks.
After the doctor, I had planned to run like 3 errands and come home. I ran all three, but it took me about four hours to do so. Mostly due to an unscheduled stop at Filene's Basement. Where I unloaded copious amounts of cash. Then there was a stop at Tower Records. *meeps* Some of it was Christmas shopping, I swear! *pets new clothes and cds*
And tonight I have done an all out cleaning of my bathroom, including throwing away all expired meds and makeup and lotions and stuff that I don't use but always try to tell myself I will. I am so wasteful! Really, it's not good. I'm going to try to be less so in the future. The OTC meds are always an issue because I buy them on the road, because I don't feel good - and then don't want to carry them around, so I unpack them when I get home, and then two months later, I need them again, but they're home and I'm not - and you see the vicious cycle. So stuff goes bad.
Okay, so today's medical discovery: I have a retroverted cervix. Whoo, go me! :) Mostly, I'm posting this so I can remember all of it the next time I need to get a physical. The whole thing took about 2 hours, most of which I was dressed in a paper napkin... I miss the days of cloth hospital gowns. My blood pressure was good, pulse good. I had an EKG, all normal. The doctor came in and did the breast exam, said I have mild fibrosys (sp?) which is apparently normal, but I still need to google it so I can freak out about it anyway. I am vowing to do more regular breast exams, and not to freak out thinking everything is a lump.
Then came the pap and the aforementioned cervix discovery, which was a bit ouchy. But this explains why sometimes pelvic exams hurt and sometimes they don't - obviously other doctors have figured this out but just never bothered to tell me, which hey would have been useful knowledge. Have I mentioned how much Dr. Rollins rocks? Poor man, though, he felt really bad for hurting me before he figured out what was what.
I talked to him about the hair loss problems I've had since my weight loss, and he combed through my hair and said that it is falling out at the follicle which usually means something medical. So he added some thyroid and female hormone tests for my blood work. He also recommended a dermatologist to go to since some of it is genetic - everyone in my family has thin hair. I also asked him about my knee problems - he says to work on my quads and hamstrings, that a lot of women have problems because those muscles are under-developed, so I'm adding that to the weight training I've started doing. Also for the weight-loss plateau, he said smaller meals more often, and about an 1800 calorie diet *groans*
I am going to try it though. So if I'm grumpy, it's because I'm HUNGRY. I'm going to plan out what I'll be doing and go grocery shopping tomorrow.
And that's pretty much it. :)
