Update from the Waiting Room

of my local (ish) Mitsubishi dealer.

Hey, they have free wi-fi, they're already ahead in my books.

I say localish, because they are like eighteen miles from my house. There's a dealer closer, but I didn't like what they did with my car when I took it in for service. And they're only like two miles closer, so in the grand scheme of things, not such a big deal.

So any guesses on the total amount of money I'll end up signing over to them today?

To give you a fair basis:
1. My window made a whirring noise, and one that I would swear was the sound of breaking glass. They are charging me $85 just to look at it.
2. I've asked them to check my brakes, as they keep squealing.
3. I'm getting my oil changed - $30

I'm guessing.... 30 kajillion dollars and my firstborn son.

Yes, I have to take my car in to get the oil changed and inspected. Hopefully they won't find anything else wrong with it.

Well $85/hour is standard for any mechanic anywhere, I think you would have had to pay that anywhere, unless you've got one of those kindly mechanics that have a soft spot for single women and will look at it for nothing and only charge you labor when they actually fix it. I used to have guys like that. You could drive into the station and run out of the car going "I hear a funny noise!!", and they'd tell you to sit down and they'd look at it within 15 minutes, no matter what they were doing, and let you know what was going on. *sigh*

I get my oil changed at a local quickie lube place, same price, but I don't really have to wait that long.
