Acting my age? Not so much.

I went to Music Midtown (Atlanta's yearly outdoor rock festival) this weekend for the first time. I went because The Strokes were playing and I wanted to see them. I got there a little early and decided to work my way toward the front of the crowd. What I didn't count on was the band playing before The Strokes being Trapt, who are a little more hardcore and draw quite a different audience. So I'm about ten years older than most of the crowd, and then the moshing starts. Moshing is such a hetero white boy thing to do - I mean, running and smacking into each other? What kind of talent is that? Next came the crowd surfing. I should have known it was coming and kept an eye out, but I was actually watching the show (silly me!) so it came as a complete surprise when a grown man was dropped on my head. There really should be some sort of instituted crowd-surfing weight limit.

But I had a great time, and by the time The Strokes got on, I had worked my way up to about the 4th row so I had a fantastic view and it wasn't too loud. The moshing dwindled so I could concentrate on the music and I enjoyed them a lot. By the time their set was over, I'd been at the festival for about four hours and I was festivaled out, so I decided not to stick around for the Foo Fighters. Scott's plane had just landed, and we went out for a couple of drinks instead.

So this morning, I'm feeling pretty beat down. I wonder why? *g*

I'm glad you survived having someone dropped on your head that can be traumatic.
